Snowshoeing?

"I rented snow-shoes" Dad said after he got home today.
Uhm, alright, you don't hear that every day. Of course, being the 15 year old teenage girl i am, the thought of snowshoeing around a mountain didn't really thrill me.
To my surprise, it was rather fun!! :D
Of course, i kept stepping on my own snowshoes and almost fell like 45 times, but none the less. it was fun.
I have no idea what the large towers behind us do, but i guess they are important, so, we took a picture.
:]

snowshoeing=fun.

Hollandaise!

I have just discovered hollandaise sauce!
I made it for the first time about 45 minutes ago :].
Over veggies, eggs, anything! Its, delicious!!!
This has just made my day.

Souper!

Combine zucchini, onion, garlic, tomatoes, beans, carrots, pasta, oregano, tomato paste, veggie broth and red wine and what do you have?
You have one of the tastiest soups ever made.
The broth alone would make a fabulous soup.
Of course when i asked my mother if i could use open a bottle of red wine she was rather confused until i explained what it was for. :]. I ate most of this soup by myself.
Soup is so perfect when its cold and snowy outside..

Worlds Best Egg Salad

So, this is a sandwich. But this isn't just any sandwich.
This is a sandwich that would please the gods. Egg salad with three kinds of mustard, extra sharp cheddar cheese and thinly sliced plum tomatoes on toasted bread.

By far one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten.

Egg pie?

I have to say, when i first heard of a quiche, i was rather turned off. An egg pie? that sounds ridiculous, then one day i found a recipe for quiche in my moms big red cookbook, i made it. After making a few, i was hooked, these egg pies are addicting.
I started making crust-less quiches, mini-quiches and crust-less mini quiches! Ive been making quiches ever since.
This quiche on the left has carrots, spinach and lots of cheese, it just happens to be one of my favorites :].

Another Snowday

So, its January 22, 2009 and it is yet, another snowday. We have, i would say about 2 1/2 - 3 feet of snow and its 31 degrees outside. Yesterday was a snowday as well. Which means since we had Monday off of school and we had a snowday yesterday that we had a 2 day school week :]. Which i mighty fine by me.
Yesterday i had the urge to take pictures, so i ran outside with my camera in its waterproof case(which i got for x-mas, thanks Santa) so it wouldn't get wet and took pictures :](one if which is above).
Since i am sort of trapped in this house, i have been trying to occupy me time with various activities such as, sitting around, sitting on the computer, lying on the couch and counting the lines on the ceiling and other exciting activities. I have also been cooking a lot. I made fabulous mashed potatoes, a frittata(shown below) and an egg salad sandwich to die for.
Of course i get out there and shovel every once and a while, but this morning was a very disappointing day for shoveling. I just shoveled the snow berm in front of our driveway and was heading back inside when the plow comes by and piles about 2 feet of snow onto where i had just shoveled. If you have not experienced this, it makes you want to cry.
It is supposed to snow through tomorrow, so, since the snow blower is temporarily out of service and my father is not home, we wont be going anywhere for a while.
I am off to go re-count the lines on my ceiling.
I hope your day is as exciting as mine.
Bye!

Zucchini, carrot and tomato frittata

I apologize for not blogging for such a long time.

Anyway, i have decided that i am going to start blogging some of the dishes that i make.

This is a zucchini, carrot and tomato frittata.
I must say it was pretty tasty, i went easy on the garlic though (which i shouldn't have). But, with a bit of salt it was yummy. Next time i shall add more seasoning to the egg base :].
